Valency and Geometry of Multivalent Glycolipid Binding as Cellular Targeting Mechanism in Viral Infection

This project aims to understand in collaboration with P1, P2 and P4, if membrane deformation induced by polyvalent binding to glycolipids is a common mechanism for internalization of polyomaviridae and if it can be inhibited by competition with multivalent binders generated together with P7. Furthermore we aim to address the questions, how the organization of binding sites controls intracellular transport.
